How One Note in Evernote Put $196 In My Pocket

A lesson on the importance of documentation

You might be overpaying for a subscription right now and have no idea. I didn’t. And I would never have caught the reason behind and had the documentation to turn future charges into a refund had it not been for my system of documentation in Evernote.

Thanks for reading Get Organized! by Dr. Frank Buck! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

I wound up with a $196 credit on my bill!

Text Wrap Comes to Evernote

Text wrap is a concept I’ve used in Word for many years. When you have an image, rather than having line breaks above and below it and wasted white space on either side, “text wrap” allows you to place the image anywhere within the text and let the words wrap around the image. You see this all the time in books and magazines, and you may well have used it yourself.

Text wrap has now come to Evernote. This short (less than a minute) video demonstrates how to use it.

Here's how to do it...

For the Band Director in Your Community

I started my career as a junior high band director. Anyone in the field will tell you that starting beginners is the lifeblood of a band program. Get that part right, and the future is bright.

I was a huge advocate of teaching the physical properties of playing the instrument first and postponing, for several weeks, the intellectual part...reading notes from the staff.

I developed rote exercises to do with students in those early lessons. I also put those exercises on paper so students could have a guide to practice at home.

This resource turned out to be the best thing I created, and it was too good to simply sit in a filing cabinet in my garage.

I remastered the entire set, which was originally created on purple ditto masters (for those of us old enough to remember those days).

Here’s the point: It’s time for band directors all over the country to start planning for next year’s beginning band. If you know the band director in your community, could you share the links in the two buttons below with them? One is a free preview of what I’m talking about. The other is a link to purchase the entire set. One purchase allows the band director to make as many copies as needed for the rest of their career.
